Celebrate Columbus Day Weekend in charming Mexico Beach along northwest Florida’s “Unforgettable Coast” at the 16th Annual Mexico Beach Art and Wine Festival, held Saturday, October 11, at the Driftwood Inn. Festivalgoers will enjoy an afternoon strolling the beautiful grounds of this quaint seaside inn and viewing myriad pieces on display by local and regional artists during the popular juried event. Additional festival activities include a live and silent auction, as well as live entertainment.

“While the event does not have a wine tasting per se, a cash bar featuring spectacular wines and beers will be available for purchase along with a commemorative wine glass and festival poster,” said Kimberly Shoaf, president of the Mexico Beach Community Development Council.

The annual fund-raiser kicks off Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. (CST) and admission is $5.00 per person. Festivalgoers may purchase works of art on display and bid on pieces donated by participating artists and merchants during the silent auction that begins at 2:00 p.m. (CST), followed by the live auction at 5:00 p.m. (CST).

“Not only is our Annual Art and Wine Festival a great opportunity to snag that one-of-a-kind piece to display in your beach home or to take back home as a souvenir of the wonderful time spent in Mexico Beach,” Shoaf added, “but proceeds from the festival also help fund our annual ‘Best Blast on the Beach’ celebration held on the Fourth of July.”

Mark your calendars and be sure to come out and enjoy the glorious fall weather with a delightful afternoon of beautiful artwork, live music, food and wine!

And if you’re a music lover, the Unforgettable Coast is hosting an event the following weekend that you most certainly won’t want to miss. Celebrating its sixth anniversary, the Blast on the Bay Songwriter Festival, held October 16–19, will feature more than thirty talented musicians and songwriters from Nashville. Collectively, these crowd-pleasing entertainers have written hundreds of hit songs for country music’s biggest stars, such as Blake Shelton, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Florida-Georgia Line and Jason Aldean, just to name a few.

“We’re very excited about this year’s schedule of awesome performers!” Shoaf exclaimed. “Many songwriters from years past will be returning for another great weekend of music and storytelling. You can also can count on several new faces at this year’s Blast, which will make for a great festival.”

Throughout the three-day event, featured artists will be performing at nearly a dozen venues located in Mexico Beach, Port St. Joe and Indian Pass, with the grand finale on Sunday afternoon at the world famous Indian Pass Raw Bar.

“This is a weekend absolutely not to be missed,” Shoaf said. “And unlike other songwriter festivals held in Northwest Florida, all of the shows are free of charge or only a minimal donation is requested. We encourage everyone to come out each night and enjoy these fabulous multitalented performers.”

Proceeds from the 6th Annual Blast on the Bay Songwriter Festival benefit the Coastal Songwriters Education Coalition Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit organization which also partners with several other civic and nonprofit groups in the area, including the Gulf Alliance for Local Arts, the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, the Semper-Fi Sisters and local grade schools through songwriting workshops, performances and educational opportunities surrounding this event and others throughout the year.
