Giving Thanks

We all truly have a lot to be thankful for. The month of November allows us to show our appreciation and officially give thanks for all our blessings. Two very special days are celebrated in November: Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. We are forever grateful to those men and women who gave all they had to make us free and secure in America. We would like to give thanks to all our veterans and wish all our friends a very happy Thanksgiving. We have a special “thank you” this month to Jacob Kranz of the Flagpole Solutions Company. While staying at the El Governor Motel, Jacob provided complimentary flagpoles on the beach proudly displaying American and military flags, as shown in the photo above.

Mexico Beach Fishing Report

Mexico Beach Florida Fishing Report November

The weather is cooling down, but the fishing is still hot! Flounder and sea trout are biting in the canal and along the jetty channel. Expect to reel in whiting from the beaches and huge red fish along the shore structure. Farther out, the gag grouper and triggerfish are biting along the Car Body sites and other MBARA reefs. For more information and updates to season dates, you can visit the Mexico Beach Marina or Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Mexico Beach offers some of the best sport fishing in the world. For a complete list of charter services, marina info, and reef coordinates visit mexicobeach.com.

And the Winner Is…

The Fish House RestaurantLast month, we had a gift certificate from Graba Java Internet Café up for grabs. The lucky winner is Nancy Shaver from Woodbury, MN. Congratulations, Nancy!

This month we are giving away a gift certificate to one of the oldest businesses here in Mexico Beach, the Shell Shack. They have been serving Mexico Beach fresh seafood as well as souvenirs, seashells and trinkets since 1965. have nary a lump.

✯ What we’re really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets. I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving? —Erma Bombeck

✯ Thanksgiving is America’s national chow-down feast, the one occasion each year when gluttony becomes a patriotic duty. —Michael Dresser

✯ Coexistence: what the farmer does with the turkey—until Thanksgiving. —Mike Connolly

✯ The thing I’m most thankful for right now is elastic waistbands. —Author Unknown

✯ It has been an unchallengeable American doctrine that cranberry sauce, a pink goo with overtones of sugared tomatoes, is a delectable necessity of the Thanksgiving board and that turkey is uneatable without it. —Alistair Cooke
