While we do have some spectacular sunsets here in Mexico Beach, our sunrises are just as captivating and worth the early rise. They are inspiring, and it’s a great view to see the sun come over all of Mexico Beach. Walking the beach first thing in the morning or casting out that first line is not a bad way to start your day. So, next time you’re having a struggle getting out of bed, just think of our sunrise and let that help you. |

This month, we are delighted to report that the Driftwood Inn’s Chapel is back! This romantic and intimate little chapel was once a staple for the Driftwood Inn, and we are thrilled it’s been rebuilt. Having been the scene of many marriages over the years and a marker of unforgettable memories, we know the chapel will serve as the venue for many more special occasions. It’s available for weddings and other small events, so feel free to visit the Driftwood Inn to take a tour or reach out about booking!

Mexico Beach is a Leave No Trace community, and we appreciate your assistance in helping us keep our beaches clean. Any items left on the beach unattended from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. will be removed and disposed of by the City of Mexico Beach. Items include, but are not limited to, tents and tent frames, beach chairs, coolers, umbrellas, toys, etc. Also, please fill in any holes before you leave and please remain off the sand dunes and out of the sea oats to ensure their continued nourishment. There are boardwalks and walking paths that can be accessed to reach the beach. Your assistance with these requests will keep our beaches beautiful and pristine. For full details on this ordinance or questions, click here or contact City Hall at (850) 648-5700.

THIS SORT OF MILITARY WISDOM IS SOMETHING TO BE SAVORED, SO WE HOPE YOU ENJOY! |
If you see a bomb technician running, follow him! Tracer bullets work both ways. If the enemy is in range, so are you. Never tell the Platoon Sergeant you have nothing to do. The only time you have too much fuel is when you’re on fire. Hurry up and wait is a classic military motto. You know that your landing gear is up and locked when it takes full power to taxi to the terminal. Boot camp: where the word ‘rest’ means drop and give 20. Field days: like cleaning, but with more mud.
“Friendly” fire isn’t friendly. |

This saying is a certification that everything necessary for action has been checked out and is ready. The saying originated from the NASA space program. On May 5, 1961, during the take-off preparation for the launch of Freedom 7, Astronaut Alan Shepard was quoted as saying, “Cabin pressure is go, fuel system is go, oxygen is go…” He then added, “All systems are go,” and the saying stuck. It’s still used by NASA and other national agencies to inform everyone that operations are ready to go.
