Mexico Beach GollyWhopper Classic was delighted to host their eighth annual fishing tournament.
Golly … What a Tournament!
Mexico Beach GollyWhopper Classic was delighted to host their eighth annual fishing tournament this year—and what a great time! Awards were presented in the categories of King Mackerel, Red Snapper, and Grouper. This year’s tournament did not have any cash prizes; instead, the proceeds were earmarked for the City of Mexico Beach. There were 73 boat entries and 23 youngsters in the tournament: the largest participation in the eight years that the tournament has been in Mexico Beach. The spirit of volunteerism is very much alive and the commitment to rebuild Mexico Beach is strong. We offer a big “Thank You” to the tournament directors, who donated $12,500 to the City of Mexico Beach’s canal and fish-cleaning station projects.
And the winner is...
Last month, we had a gift pack from the Mexico Beach Marina up for grabs, and the lucky winner is Judy Pilkington, from Holly Pond, Alabama. Congrats, Judy!

The Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association is excited to announce the date of their 23rd Annual MBARA Kingfish Tournament: August 24, 2019. This tournament serves as a charitable event with proceeds going toward building artificial reefs that are placed out in the Gulf of Mexico. Festivities will kick off with the Captain’s Party on Friday, August 23 and continue with the tournament on Saturday, August 24. This tournament is one the entire family can enjoy. Watch as the fish are brought in and weighed, all while supporting a worthwhile cause: building marine habitats in the Gulf of Mexico.
