Help Us Share the Sunshine

Mexico Beach is more than just a destination; it’s a welcoming community with breathtaking beaches and a laid-back vibe. To truly enjoy and preserve our little slice of paradise and make your trip unforgettable, it’s important for all visitors to embrace a spirit of kindness, respect, and care. Here’s how you can do your part to “share the sunshine” while exploring all that Mexico Beach has to offer.

Be a Steward of Nature

Mexico Beach is home to an array of wildlife, from delicate shorebirds to nesting sea turtles. Protecting all creatures is part of the wonder of visiting. Here’s how to show your respect:

  • Protect Nesting Areas: Watch for marked sea turtle nests and give them plenty of space to thrive. Please do not touch turtles or their nests. Also, stay off the dunes and out of marked nesting shorebird areas.
  • Observe from a Distance: Admire animals in their natural habitat and avoid getting too close or feeding them.

Follow Beach Rules for a Cleaner, Safer Shoreline

The pristine beaches of Mexico Beach are the heart of the community. Keeping them clean and safe ensures everyone can enjoy their beauty:

  • Leave No Trace: Mexico Beach is a “Leave No Trace” community. You must remove all unattended items from the beach from 7:00 PM- 7:00 AM each day. Any items left on the beach will be removed and disposed of.
  • Fill in Holes: Our beach rules state that holes may be no more than 2’ deep and must be filled in prior to leaving. If you dig in the sand, please do not leave any holes unattended and remember to fill in any holes before you leave.
  • No Pets on the Beach: pets are not permitted on the beaches in Mexico Beach. Pets are allowed on the west end of the canal, towards Tyndall Air Force Base and on the beach in Gulf County (St. Joe Beach). Leash laws apply throughout the city.

Be Neighborly to Locals and Visitors

The charm of Mexico Beach extends beyond the scenery, it’s also in the people who call it home. While visiting, you can spread the sunshine by:

  • Being Courteous: A warm smile and kind words can make someone’s day, whether it’s a fellow visitor or a local resident.
  • Sharing the Beach: Be mindful of others by keeping noise levels down and respecting personal space, especially in crowded areas.

Follow Traffic Rules

Exploring Mexico Beach by car, bike, or foot is part of the fun. Make it a safe and pleasant journey for all by:

  • Obeying Speed Limits: The speed limit on HWY 98 is 35 MPH. The streets of Mexico Beach are often shared with pedestrians and cyclists, so drive safely and stay alert.
  • Yielding to Pedestrians: Obey the law and yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, and show them courtesy by allowing them to cross safely.
  • Parking Responsibly: Use designated parking areas and avoid blocking driveways or sidewalks. The City of Mexico Beach also prohibits parking overnight in any city park.

Go with the Flow

One of the best ways to experience Mexico Beach is to adopt its laid-back, go-with-the-flow attitude. Here’s how to soak up the relaxing vibes:

  • Leave the Stress Behind: Let the gentle Gulf breeze and stunning sunsets remind you to relax and enjoy the moment.
  • Help Out: Whether it’s picking up trash or lending a hand to someone in need, small gestures go a long way in creating a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Spread Sunshine: Be a beacon of positivity by sharing your smile, kindness, and appreciation for this amazing community and environment.
