5 Ways to Have a Slower Summer in Mexico Beach, Florida
If you’re dreaming of a laid-back family vacation where time slows down and the gulf breeze washes away all your worries, Mexico Beach is the place to be.
Here’s how to embrace the art of unwinding along our unforgettable coast.
1. Start Your Days with a Leisurely Beach Stroll
Forget the alarm clock, wake up on beach time – essentially your time- and take a peaceful morning walk along the beach. Mexico Beach is known for its uncrowded coastline, making it the perfect spot to watch the sunrise, feel the sand beneath your feet, and breathe in the fresh salt air.
2. Pack a Picnic and Stay Put
Instead of rushing off the beach for meal time, set up a cozy beach picnic and settle in for the sunset. Bring a cooler filled with local goodies, fresh fruit, and cold drinks so you don’t have to leave the sand. Not wanting to pack a dinner? Order pizza from one of our local pizza food trucks and take it back to the beach. Remember, to help keep our beach pristine for others by leaving no trace and removing all trash. Glass is also not allowed on the beach and fill in any holes before leaving.
3. Unplug and Unwind
Make this vacation about disconnecting from daily stress. Turn off notifications, limit screen time, and enjoy simple pleasures—collect seashells, nap under an umbrella, or listen to the crashing waves. Mexico Beach is a place where slowing down feels natural.
4. Try Some Small-Town Charm
Wander through our local colorful shops, chat with friendly locals, or simply just take your time in our destination. Mexico Beach has a welcoming atmosphere, making it easy to enjoy the little moments of life. You never know who you might bump into while enjoying that much needed ice cream cone.
5. Lean in to Our Nightlife
Go explore under the stars. Grab a flashlight, a net, and hit the beach for ghost crab hunting. See what other animals may be enjoying Mexico Beach during the night, including nesting sea turtles. If you come upon a nesting turtle, give her plenty of room and do not disturb her.
Local Tip: Pick-up red flashlight light covers available at the Welcome Center so that the bright white lights from cell phones or flashlights does not bother the turtles and other wildlife
This summer, don’t chase adventure—let relaxation find you. Mexico Beach, FL is waiting to wrap you in its unforgettable charm, one wave at a time.
