Here in Mexico Beach, we are known for our clean, calm white sandy beaches which makes it a perfect spot for families. Kids can build sandcastles, collect seashells, skimboard, and boogie board over the waves. Be sure to keep in mind all Leave No Trace Regulations while enjoying the beach. Also, during the months of May- October sea turtles are busy nesting and hatching along our coastline. It is important to keep the beach clean, flat, and dark for them to make their way to and from the Gulf.

2. Enjoy A Day Fishing

Introduce your kids to the joys of fishing with any of our family-friendly charter boats. Our local charter fisherman can take you right to the sweet spots where you can reel in local favorites including Red Snapper and Grouper. If getting out a boat is not your speed, then no worries! It’s a great place to stop in and learn a little bit more about the area before your vacation officially starts. You can take advantage of our big Adirondack chair which is a great photo op for those Instagramable pictures and holiday cards. Be sure to come inside to get your complimentary lip balm- it’s famous!

5. Experience A Ghost Crab Finding Adventure

One of the most exciting and unique activities for kids in Mexico Beach is hunting for ghost crabs. These fascinating little creatures, also known as sand crabs, are nocturnal and can be seen scurrying quickly across the beach at dusk. Remember to use sea turtle-safe flashlight filters on your flashlight to ensure no disturbing of the sea turtles during their nesting season. These flashlight filters can be found at the Welcome Center, for free!
